LARGE VINTAGE GREEN FRENCH DEMIJOHN CARBOY
This vintage green bottle vase, looks great and creatively dramatic on any stylish setting. These glass carboys were originally from France. They were originally used daily to carry wine. Often these Carboys were stored in a huge metal crate or wrapped in a wicket basket to carry. Today we can either use them for a floral arrangement at the side of the console table or a creative display on the floor on the corner of a room. We have 3 in stock and all are slightly different sizes and shades of greens and turquoises. All beautiful and precious.
These ultimate decorative items are about 100 years old. They are hand blown and won’t have any ugly seams down the side.
The word Carboy is translated to “big jug”. They are called Carboy is the USA. In France, these wonderful green bottles are often known as Demijohn’s too, pronounced ‘Dame Jeanne’. A word meaning large bottle glass vessel with a huge body and skinny neck, to carry liquids.
One of our best sellers, these vases show a level imperfections which may include some air bubbles in the glass, unevenness in shape & slight scratches , all adding to the character & charm of the product. They are old & each one is slightly different in either shape or colour.
If you would like more information, perfect sizes or more photos of the vases before purchasing we would be delighted to help.
